Feedback from the Colourful Minds Community Exhibition
Based on the amazing feedback we received at the recent Colourful Minds community exhibition, we think it’s about time we made it clear that Herts Inclusive Theatre isn’t just made up of fantastic actors and theatre makers – we’re also a community of artists!
From May until June, artwork created during our Colourful Minds sessions was displayed at The Old Town Hall. Visitors to the community exhibition had the chance to view the artwork displayed, as well as learn more about the influences behind the work. Read on to hear what punters thought of the work.
What is Colourful Minds?
Colourful Minds is an art-for-wellbeing course created in partnership with Dacorum Borough Council. At weekly sessions, participants create artworks based on a theme or artist. These sessions are designed to use the benefits of creativity to help those dealing with mild to moderate mental health conditions, such as stress, anxiety, and depression.
As with all of our groups and projects, fostering creativity and emotional well-being is essential, but another key focus is creating a community where everyone feels welcome. Colourful Minds sessions also aim to encourage friendships and connection.
The Community Exhibition
Herts Inclusive Theatre held a celebration evening in May to celebrate the opening of the community exhibition. We were joined by many members of the Herts Inclusive Theatre community, where we had a chance to hear speeches from the team and have a look at the amazing artwork on display.
Thank you to everyone who came along and to those who viewed the community exhibition over the month.
Feedback from the Community Exhibition
Some attendees of the celebration evening and those who visited over the month-long exhibition shared their thoughts –
I particularly enjoyed the Japanese and Chinese art. It is so lovely to see how much the participants enjoy the activity.
Very talented and inspirational. Good to see such individuality.
So colourful and interesting. I see all the different artists styles. Well done all!
I love all the works and such wonderful feedback on how your art helps your well-being.
Lovely body of work! So great to read participants comments on how the project has helped folk feel better!
Try Art for your Well-being
Thank you to everyone involved in the project and in creating the community exhibition – it was so wonderful to see everyone’s artwork presented so professionally.
Our most recent term of Colourful Minds has now come to an end. If we run another term, make sure to book quickly – places almost always get booked up.
Sign up soon and maybe next time your artwork will be on display!
