Community & Schools

HIT’s outreach work includes working with local schools and organisations in delivering a range of inclusive and creative projects

Speech Bubbles 2023

Anywhere between 3 and 15 children in every KS1 class will have a communication need that is affecting their learning, their enjoyment of school and their socialisation.

Speech Bubbles is a primary school drama intervention supporting children’s communication skills, confidence and wellbeing.  The programme has been developed by London Bubble Theatre Company, alongside Speech and Language Therapists and schools since 2007.

From September 2023 Herts Inclusive Theatre will be partnering with Speech Bubbles to deliver the programme to primary schools across South Hertfordshire. At Herts Inclusive Theatre we believe that every child has the right to communicate, and every child has.

Commissioned Projects 2023

HIT are excited to be partnering with Dacorum Borough Council and Community Action Dacorum this year on delivering projects in and around Hertfordshire. These projects aim to increase confidence and wellbeing through activities within the arts.

Colourful Minds

Colourful Minds can be run in person and/or online for participants.

The aim of the course is to provide a therapeutic and creative experience to support mental health and wellbeing through creative art techniques.

Outcomes:

  • Participants have improved emotional wellbeing
  • Participants have increased resilience and feel able to cope with issues affecting them
  • Participants feel less isolated

Colourful Minds is running from May – September 2023 for adults at the South Hill Centre in Hemel Hempstead.

Free drop-in taster sessions every Friday this May (5, 12, 19 and 26) between 1pm and 3pm.

These sessions will take place in the Employment and Wellbeing Hub at South Hill Centre and provide you with an opportunity to try the activity before you apply, discover more and meet the artist.

Course dates/times:

8th June – 28th Sept 2023 (12 weeks, excluding the month of August)

Each Thursday 10am -12pm.

The taster sessions are free of charge but each session of the 12-week course costs £3 (£36 in total, payable in advance). Tea, coffee and all materials are provided.
